We all know the drill – we spend so much time going through our daily lives that we often miss the truly remarkable. As a result, there’s something strangely satisfying about a mass of people taking time off to appreciate something that could just as easily be missed because life is going too fast.
So it was with a great deal of interest yesterday that I noticed a crowd of people at the Alewife rotaries all looking up. Usually in that area, everyone is rushing – rushing to get to Cambridge or to get home, whether by car or by T. Turns out a pair of red-tail hawks decided to make their nest there about three months ago, and their three chicks hatched in mid-April.
Seeing all those people taking a few minutes out of their busy days to watch this family of hawks just makes me happy somehow.
Check out the hawks and their chicks below.
